Many games at the amateur level are won or lost on the base paths. Using a series of well-designed drills, championship coach Ron Murphy shows you ways to come out ahead on game day. Using his players and assistant coaches on the diamond, Coach Murphy covers baserunning skills, rundowns, bunt defense and 1st and 3rd situations. He finishes up with drills to help your hitters build visual skills and sculpt their swings.

Gaining the Extra Base

Starting with the Ground and Round drill, you'll see 11 different baserunning drills. These drills will teach your players how to execute a variety of baserunning skills. The Four Corners Drill will help your players practice situational base running early in practice, setting the tone for a high energy practice each day. Leads and jumps are covered in depth so that your players can swipe bags successfully and score more runs.

Defending Special Situations

Every amateur coach knows that you must be able to successfully defend the bunt, 1st and 3rd situation, and execute rundowns if you want to win championships. Coach Murphy covers each of these areas in detail while keeping it simple for players. He explains "Cover 1" and "Cover 3" against the bunt and how to use back picks as part of your bunt defense. A simple "PTO" system is used in 1st-3rd situations, giving athletes multiple options to shut down the running game. Rundown drills and a PFP series round out the series, making sure your players are ready to execute in every situation

Vision and Reaction Drills

Hitters in today's game need great visual skills, barrel control and the ability to react and adapt in the batters box. Progressive drills including dry swings, the tee, and soft toss are demonstrated to help players learn these skills. Nine different drills are used, including the 3 Plate Drill to improve timing, and the Drive Through Drill to increase power. The 7 Inning Situational Game brings everything together so you can see if your players are ready to execute both offensively and defensively.

Coach Murphy shows you how to get your players ready to do the things you need in order to win games. Get this video today so you won't leave the field this season knowing you lost a key game because your team wasn't prepared to take the extra base or defend special situations!
